Book Review: The Time Traveler's Wife
Mood:  sharp
Now Playing: wicked: popular
Topic: my two cents
I've been on a brief hiatus from blogging as I have escaped into the most wonderful fantasy world I've ever experienced. It all started when Elle and I went to see The Proposal. It was a deliciously fun movie (more of a rental, but that's ok) that makes one reevaluate their position on love all together. During the previews for the movie there was the trailer for New Moon which I pointed out to Elle the moment Summit's logo appeared on the screen. I mean, what else does Summit make? Oh that's right: Penelope with Christina Ricci. Anywho... there was a preview for a movie that was based on a best selling novel. No lie, this trailer had me on the edge of my seat with tears in my eyes. I had to read this book and now I am completely obsessed with the story.

I am not a fantasy freak... I don't particularly enjoy science fiction and really am turned off by stories that get wrapped up in the science... I want an easy breezy beach book, though one that also makes me think a bit too would be nice. I'm definitely positive Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife is everything I've wanted in a so-called beach book. The story between Henry & Claire had me from "hello." While I will admit it took some getting used to as the story is told from both Claire & Henry's perspectives, the reader slowly develops a strong sympathetic relationship with Claire, and at the same time, finding Henry endearing when he travels back in time.

Both characters are likable and those I would want to be friends with and it is Henry's 'disease' that is a complete afterthought. I was in need of 'romance' boost and this definitely fulfilled that wish. I almost envy Claire for her chance to grow and know her soul mate throughout her entire life. Come this August, I am pretty sure you will find me in a theater enjoying this romance that transcends time...
