My Two Cents: Shrek the Musical, The Disney Diaries & Greek Season Finale
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: pink: funhouse
Topic: my two cents
I really have honestly been slacking on the blog posting as of late, sorry. I have had a busy week with events practically every night. I promised to catch you up on a few things so here we go, here are a few of my two cents...

SHREK THE MUSICAL: In 2001 Dreamworks introduced the world to an ogre voiced by Mike Myers of Austin Powers fame. You knew this, what you may not know is Dreamworks recently introduced Broadway fans to that same ogre played by Brian D'arcy James. I was kind of a fan of the movie when it first came out, though I'm not a fan of fart jokes, so there were bits I truly didn't find that hilarious... well not as hilarious as my six year old brother... I think overall the movie translated nicely to the stage. I don't know if it would have been my first choice to bring to the Big White Way, but clearly some producers thought this would be a great idea. Sadly, the performance I saw did not include Sutton Foster (Princess Fiona) nor Christopher Sieber (Lord Farquaad). The understudies were decent, but I really would have liked to see the original cast. Oh well. I liked the show, but really would not go out of my way to recommend it. All in all, I've seen much better productions on Broadway, though I have also much worse, so Shrek the Musical is about as average as one could get. THE DISNEY DIARIES: It is rare that I get to see a performance on its opening night, but I was fortunate enough to have a clean schedule for when The Disney Diaries opened at The Laurie Beechman theater. Starring Jonathan Whitton, this one man show discusses Phil Geoffrey Bond's trip to Walt Disney World on June during Gay Days! Now, having never been to Disney during this 'magical getaway' I didn't know if I could truly appreciate this story. Not the case... anyone that has gone to Disney World can appreciate the comedic tale... I was recently there for the last Super Soap Weekend and it sounds very much like Gay Days, except with soap fans. I think if Mr. Bond wanted to turn The Disney Diaries into a epic saga much like the The Norman Conquests I can surely fill him in on the stories held during Super Soap. For instance, one fan screams, "JASON... JASON... OVER HERE!" Says the "larger"-than life soap fan as she notices General Hospital's Scott Burton being dragged by a plethora of 'plaid people.' Other fans react in horror and scream, "His name's Scott." Our "larger"-than-life, now turned soap villain, retorts with as much Brooklyn attitude she can muster, "Well, I don't know Scott, I know JASON!" Priceless! You won't be disappointed if you get a chance to catch any of the remaining shows at the Laurie Beechman. It's a nice way to spend evening. GREEK SEASON FINALE: I know I am a week overdue with my review of the ABC Family show that is the most amazing piece of enterainment on these days. For those of you not watching GREEK, I feel a little bad for you, because you are missing out on something better than Gossip Girl  and the entire old school TGIF line-up combined. With that said, hopefully you will run out and buy the DVDs of Chapters One and Two so you can catch up with the rest of the cool kids! I always like it when the couple I am cheering for ends up together, it gives me a little bit of hope that someday I too may have that magical moment shared by two people in love and live happily ever after. I thought Casey and Max were going to be that couple for me when Max was introduced as a potential love interest for Casey. Sure enough I thought they were ideal together... the perfect mixture of Cappie and Evan yet very different from both of them. The writers had it right. Well, recently we found out Max (played by Michael Rady) will be a regular cast member on the new edition of Melrose Place which means Casey & Max are going to finish up at the end of the season... It was inevitable for any serious TV viewer. What I was expecting and what happened though were two totally different things. Casey decided that she couldn't fight her feelings for Cappie and decided to break things off with Max. I was not wishing that would be the case because once again it shows that the nice guys finish last. I can't wait to see the new chapter begin in August and you better be watching by then... it's better than most shows out there! For more information visit: http://www.abcfamily.com
